Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade
The stats of an item can be improved by upgrading it, which is also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment boosts the stat linearly.
Players can recycle six items at a time to gain a gauge for each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling items scales depending on their rarity and level.

Upgrade components
An item upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can boost the effectiveness of your armor and weapons. This can be accomplished by many different methods such as the use of upgrade components and also increasing an item's mark level or rarity. A lot of items can be reforged to boost their value.
Upgradeable items can be found all over the game, both around the world and as rewards for missions. Players can also make them. The primary method to upgrade gear is through the use of upgrade components, which are items that can be slotted into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with upgrade slots, and many require a certain upgrade level. Some upgrade components give specific bonuses while others give an overall bonus.
There are many types of upgrade components that are available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Universal upgrades, like gems and enchantments, are able to be placed in any kind of equipment and offer fewer bonuses than those that are equipment-type specific. Glyphs can be placed in gathering tools, and provide numerous bonuses, from increasing the speed of the item's collection to providing additional crafting materials.
To upgrade an item, select it from your inventory and open the Upgrade window. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen that shows what the expected stats are after the upgrade, and any necessary components or materials. The Upgrade button at the bottom will read blocked if you don't have enough of either.
The upper-right corner displays the amount of upgrade components required for an item. The cost of an upgrade increases with the level of the upgrade and its rarity, but it can be reduced through a variety of methods, including purchasing upgrades from a retailer or trading them with other players.
Almost all weapons can be upgraded with the use of a prefix upgrade like an insignia or rune. Many can be upgraded using suffix upgrades. These upgrades change the name of the item, adding an adjective, like "Radiant" or "Minor Vigor.' The exceptions are the non-inscribable wands, the shields and foci from Prophecies and Factions campaigns, that cannot be upgraded using any mods at all.
Glyphs
Glyphs are a powerful tool to communicate visual information. They move to catch the viewer's attention and spur curiosity in the brain. The animation of glyphs resembles the body language and makes them more effective in communicating the message of a language barrier. Glyphs also evoke a sense of familiarity in the brain, which increases retention of the message.
Each glyph comes with a range of values it can improve a stat by according to the item when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an Artifact. This range is the maximum value that a glyph can improve a stat by and not the amount it will actually increase it by. The actual value of the glyph is determined by the tier and quality of the item you're creating it for.
The majority of upgrade components installed into items cannot be removed or replaced without dismantling them except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If you do have a non-useful rune or glyph that has not yet been incorporated into your equipment, you can transfer it to a different piece gear by using the Upgrade Glyphs context menu within the Glyphs panel. This will create an Glyph Set that includes the chosen glyph.
You can take out any glyph with the help of the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. This will destroy the item in which it is installed, but you can recover the upgraded item using the glyph and its fragments, so this should not be considered a loss.
item upgrading of a glyph to an item may cause it to become unstable and the shards of the glyph will disappear from your inventory when you dismantle the item. You can also put an inscription to your equipment to give it a bonus. Deferred Damage, for example can store damage, and then be dealt out slowly to the wearer rather than all at once. This is helpful for players who take lots of damage from enemies but do not want to be overwhelmed.
Reroll tokens
Reroll tokens are used to alter the affixes that are placed on weapons and other equipment. They can be obtained from many sources, such as mysterious boxes and rare drops from skulled monsters or by killing bosses. Each reroll token grants the player a new random affix, which is typically superior to the one they had before. Reroll tokens can also be used to upgrade weapon stats for more damage or bonuses.
Rerolled items do not appear in the menu of upgrade options, however they are still able to be upgraded. These rerolled items are able to be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be selected to recycle. The gauge of level is increased by recycling an item. This amount is determined by the item's rarity as well as its level. Thus, items with higher levels are more valuable for recycling than items with lower levels.
In addition to tokens for rerolls, players can make use of Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to reroll the weapon traits of an upgraded unit. Rerolls roll a percentage chance of a weapon's traits. If it scores higher, the weapon is upgraded. If it is lower, the weapon remains unchanged. Weapons can be upgraded up to three times.
Rerolling is an excellent way to upgrade an item. However, players must be aware that the total ilvl will be reduced by the number the rerolls required to bring it to the final level. This effect is most noticeable on Rings and Diadems as they have no other options to raise the ilvl.
The Reroll system has been criticized by players as being too expensive, and it would be more reasonable to let players pay for it using money or a food item which would allow players to alter their builds without a lot of time and effort. However paying for rerolls is not something the developers want to implement at this time in the game's development. They plan to add an ingredient that allows players to alter their race in the future.
Leveling
There are many ways to boost the value of an upgrade to an item. The first way to level up an upgrade to an item is to increase the upgrade amount. This boosts the value of upgrading any stat. The second option is to boost the impact of the upgrade, which increases damage or healing for a stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. After this, the new item will retain its iLevel, but will have the upgrade effects of the upgraded item type.
When upgrading your items it is essential to keep in mind that upgrades are not guaranteed. In most cases a better roll is determined by glyphs. However, there are times when a more or unique roll may occur. In addition the iLevel of the upgrade will be determined by the type of item, so if you upgrade a rare or unusual item to an exceptional item type you will have a chance to get a higher iLevel.
Upgrades can be costly Particularly if you're upgrading equipment from the standard track to legendary. The price will be based on the item's base iLevel and the number of upgrade levels it comes with. Some upgrade tracks also require crests to be completed in order to move on to the next level.
If you're fortunate the upgraded item could attain the highest level on its upgrade track and unlock an additional effect. This will increase the item's upgrade value. The bonus effect will change with each upgrade level. In general, the effect of upgrading is increased a value of +3.
The iLevel also changes depending on the item's upgrade path and base level. For instance, a weapon that is upgraded from a unique or rare to an extraordinary item will be able to be upgraded to the enhanced defense of the new base item type.
